TTS wins conversion order from Finnlines 08.06.2005

Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment, Gothenburg, part of the Dry Cargo handling Division of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, Bergen, has won an order from Finland’s Finnlines Plc, Helsinki, to carry out the conversion of the cargo access equipment onboard the two 32,534

Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment, Gothenburg, part of the Dry Cargo handling Division of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, Bergen, has won an order from Finland’s Finnlines Plc, Helsinki, to carry out the conversion of the cargo access equipment onboard the two 32,534 grt combi-ro/ro vessels Finnpartner and Finntrader. The work is to be carried out at Poland’s Remontowa SA, Gdansk.

The two 183.00 m long vessels were originally built in Poland by Stocznia Gdansk SA and delivered during 1994 and 1995 respectively. The work on each vessel; is expected to begin during the first quarter of next year (2006) and both ships will be completed by the second quarter of 2006. The vessels will operate primarily on the Malmo (Sweden) to Travemunde (Germany) service, but also be available for other services within the Finnlines network.

The new equipment to be installed onboard each vessel comprises:
· Bow doors and bow ramp (folding Frame type) on Deck 2 - this is for special transport vehicles used in the port of Malmo and for 40 foot roll trailers having a maximum weight of 128.60 tons and 47.10 tons axle load in harbour and 43.10 tons axle load at sea.
· Bow doors and bow flap on Deck 3 - he bow flap is designed for trailers with a maximum weight of 60 tons.
· A two-way tiltable ramp – also designed for a maximum weight of 60 tons.
· One end-hinged ramp cover
· One flood prevention door
· Hydraulic pump station.

All installation work complies with the latest SOLAS and IMO regulations governing this type of ship.
